The Tucson Plein Air Painters and the Arizona Desert
Sonora Museum presents the
Distinguished Artist Members Show ”Outside In”
April 5th – May 19th, 2008
A total of 3 paintings may be sent in. One may
be held to replace sold pieces, that decision is up
to the Gallery director. This total does not
include the wet painting done during the Quick Draw.
All pieces must be Plein-Air, these means it was
completed outdoors with not much more than a
signature or touch up. Artists may enter work in any
painting or drawing medium, including oil, acrylic,
water media, pastel, pen & ink, colored pencil, or
graphite. The paintings must be original, conceived
and executed by the entrant. These paintings must
NOT have been executed during a workshop or
classroom or under instructor supervision. Judge
Phil Starke 1st Place -$1,000.
2nd Place- $500. 3rd Place-
$300. Honorable Mention, & an Award of Excellence
from the ADSM-
Artwork must Not have been exhibited in a previous
TPAPS show or Exhibition.
Eligibility:
This show is limited to members who have earned the
Artist Member designation and gave an RSVP response
by 2/16/08 ,and dues are current.
Mail the following to arrive by March 13, 2008:
1. One copy of your art related bio/artist statement
or resume for the show catalog. This will help the
Gallery staff sell your work and answer the publics’
questions about you.
2. Entry fee of $35.00 - Check payable to TPAPS
3. The signed entry agreement and the completed
submission form.

1. Digital images no larger than 600KB saved with
your last name, title of piece. Include in the body
of the email, your full name, a list of each
painting you are sending in with title, size,
medium, price.

Hand Delivered Paintings:
Must be delivered ON April 2nd between
9:00am and 12:00pm, at the Az Desert Sonora Museum.
There will be signs directing you to the gate to
drop off. Please attach to the back an envelope
with your bio and business card, and the label
provided. The artwork must be professionally framed
with wire. The Gallery director has the call on
acceptance.
Shipped Paintings:
Anytime before and up to April 2nd.

TPAPS SHOW

1.Attach to the back of each painting an envelope
with your bio/resume/business card
2. Also attach the provided back label.
3. Include a check made out to TPAPS for shipping
for $15.00.
4.Include a prepaid form with your account number to
charge for return shipping. Do not use peanuts, use
a box that can be easily reused and will protect
your artwork coming and going. Artist is required to
pay shipping for delivery and return.
Size & Number of Paintings
Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces UP to
16” x 20”. This number does not include the
painting completed at the Quick Draw on Saturday
morning.
Framing:
Please use quality and exhibition
standards when framing. No saw tooth
hangers. Paintings must be wired for hanging and
secure. Please stay with gold, silver, deep
brown/black wood frames. Glass may be used for
pastels, but the artist assumes all responsibility
for breakage and/or damage due to breakage.
Paintings no meeting these requirements will not be
hung. The Gallery staff has the final call.
Liability and Insurance:
Please obtain insurance from your carrier when
shipping. All reasonable precautions will be taken
to safeguard all entries. TPAPS & ADSM will not be
responsible for the loss of, or damage to works in
transit to the exhibition.
Quick Draw-
7:30am on- Artists can check in, receive your name
tag that you need to wear for the whole day. QD
artists will also receive an easel name tag and have
their canvas stamped. Please see the requirements
for painting on the grounds at the ASDM. Don’t get
in the way, and don’t crush anything, and pick up
any trash. Be friendly and ready for the public.
This isn’t the time to wear headphones. Have
business cards ready to hand out and be sure you let
folks know that your painting will be for sale at
the reception. Bring your canvas to be stamped,
frame to fit, supplies, bio/cards for back of the
wet painting. Wet Paintings will be for sale the
duration of the show.
Exhibit and Reception:
The exhibit runs from April 5th to
May 19th, 2008. The reception is on April
5th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. It will be
passed appetizers & wine bar. The ADSM is providing
this for us. Let’s get our collectors out for this
reception and a full day of art. The postcard
provides them with free admittance for April 5th.
Sales:
All artwork must be for sale and must be
available for the duration of the show. Paintings
that are purchased may be taken by the collector
after the opening reception. Please remember that if
a collector saw your painting at the Museum show,
then purchases it after the show, to mail the
commission to the ASDM. It is the right thing to do.
Commission: Artists will receive 60% and the
Museum 40%.
Picking up of Unsold Paintings:
Please pick up your artwork on May 19th
between the hours of 9:00am and 12:00pm. If you can
not pickup send someone with your permission and a
release signed by you. TPAPS nor the Museum is
responsible for artwork not picked up. Make your
own arrangements! We’re not kidding.
Advertising:
I am asking the artists to mail out the
postcard provided by ADSM, that was created for this
show. Please provide your mailing address to
cindyLcarrillo@yahoo.com
and postcards will be sent out to you. I will also
be in Tucson the week of Feb. 25, so make
arrangements with me. That postcard provides your
client with free admittance on April 5th
for the reception. TPAPS is also running an ad in
the Villager, this color magazine is picked up by
everyone who visits Tubac, and the Tucson,
Scottsdale & Px resorts. The majority of visitors to
Tubac are from out of town/country. The Village is
one of the magazines that people keep. We plan to
list the artists names in the ad. The ad will be
run in the April issue. The ASDM will also have our
show highlighted on their website, they are sending
out announcements and postcards to all of their
members including their major donors.
I would also ask that you to send out
announcements, email or snail mail to your mailing
list. Combined we should reach an important group
of collectors. It is extra time and money, but it
will be well worth it. Let’s all take
responsibility for making this show a success, not
only by turning in wonderful work, but by working
your client list. Encourage your clients and
collectors to come enjoy the entire Museum for a
full day with artist painting, the reception and the
beautiful grounds of the Desert Museum. Please link
